Show Up For Immigrants:
Join the Blue Triangle Solidarity Project

Right now in Massachusetts, ICE is terrorizing immigrant communities. Over 300 reports of raids, detentions, and disappearances have flooded LUCE’s Immigrant Justice Network hotline in just the past few weeks. In Waltham alone, at least 40 individuals have been taken in state-sanctioned kidnappings happening in broad daylight.

I recently attended an online meeting with the national immigration advocacy group, “Witness at the Border.” They have been very active at the border for many years, reporting frequently on Facebook and other social media. Their current postings tell of specific needs and concerns as ICE continues to grab and detain innocent immigrants across our country.
They are also responsible for the BLUE TRIANGLE movement, initiated nationwide on May 1st. This is a simple but powerful symbol of our fight for the rights of innocent people. It is an inverted blue triangle, and states “I Stand With Immigrants” in English and Spanish. Kits available from Witness at the Border include large posters for demonstrations, bumper stickers, cards with a QR code, pins and stickers (for cellphones, laptops, tablets and more).

Blue triangles were sewn onto the concentration camp uniforms of migrants under the Nazis. We follow in the path of LGBTQ+ activists who reclaimed the pink triangle as a powerful symbol of defiance. We wear the blue triangle to say:

Tell Your State Legislator To
Co-Sponsor The Mass Indigenous Agenda
|
Across the Commonwealth, leaders representing the Massachusetts Tribal Nations, the North American Indian Center of Boston (NAICOB), the Massachusetts Commission on Indian Affairs, the Massachusetts Mascot Coalition Steering Committee, and other key stakeholders are calling for the implementation of the Mass Indigenous Legislative Agenda. Write your legislators here.
Ask your legislators, also, for support for the Massachusetts Seal, Flag and Motto Advisory Commission, charged with the historic task of changing Massachusetts’ official state symbol: a settler’s hand holding a sword over the head of an Indigenous caricature, with a Latin motto that translates to: Peace Under the Sword. Write your legislators here. And spread the word: there is a public call for art submissions for a new flag and seal! There may be an ORMA artist who designs our next state flag!

Urge that the commission fully involve all four Indigenous commissioners in the crucial task of creating an educational program for the general public “to help residents understand local Indigenous history and the historical underpinnings of the previous and new seals, mottos and flags from an Indigenous perspective,” as the statutory language requires. Tell them that this task should be fully resourced, and the commission should give it priority

Recommend that a public hearing be scheduled in Worcester County in the heart of the Nipmuc homeland.

Our role has been, and will continue to be, motivating ORMA members and supporters to engage in the existential crisis of our time by sharing the efforts of others, AND bringing a focus on “Natural Solutions” as the essential companion to Ending the Use of Fossil Fuels
Our core values are simple – The climate crisis is driven by the profit motive and unequal distribution of power in society, AND by a centuries long belief that humanity is meant to dominate the natural world as simply one more resource to use in the striving for wealth, power, and the accumulation of stuff.
We connect people to existing groups to take action, and we create new organizations like the Trees as a Public Good Network to address unmet needs.
Join us! We are flexible and looking for new ideas; we are NOT top-down, tell us your climate passion, find validation, and bring it to life! Not sure what to do or how? Help us motivate others to engage in existing groups and actions.
We are committed to 1) protecting the natural world that protects us from the ravages of fossil fuels 2) ending the practice “burning s**t to create energy”; and 3) exposing the role that a rigged economy and corrupt politics play in sustaining the crisis.

Supporting MPHA’s FY26 Senate Budget Priorities

Your voice is needed now to protect health equity in Massachusetts. The Senate will debate its $61.3 billion FY26 budget proposal, and over 1,000 amendments are being considered that could impact the public’s health across the Commonwealth.
Funding for health equity doesn’t come from one line item—it’s spread across state agencies like Health and Human Services, the Department of Transportation, Housing and Livable Communities, Energy and Environmental Affairs, and others. These agencies oversee programs that shape people’s health: access to shelter, safe and affordable housing, reliable public transportation, and more. Every one of these programs needs continued investment.

Join us for a rally and silent procession on Tuesday, June 3. We will meet outside Park Street Station at 5:30pm. We will gather at the Park Street Station to hear speakers testify on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and demand an end to our complicity. We will then continue with a silent procession to mourn those already lost to bombings and starvation, and to protest the continued funding and enablement of this genocide by our government. Please wear black, bring empty pots and pans, and carry signs with consistent imagery and messaging focused on the effects of bombing and starvation on children.

Saturday, June 14 has been called as the next 50501 and Indivisible National Day of Action. This is Trump’s birthday — and it is also the date of Boston Pride! The parade will last from approximately 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The festival in the Common will run from noon to 3:00 pm. L.A. Council Approves $30 Hotel Worker Wage,
Marking Major Win for Labor Rights
|
The Los Angeles City Council has approved a landmark ordinance to raise the minimum wage for hotel and airport workers to $30 per hour by July 2028. The increase, starting at $22.50 in July 2025, will affect over 23,000 workers, including housekeepers, desk clerks, and airport staff
Despite opposition from tourism industry leaders, who warned of potential job losses and impacts on hotel contracts for the 2028 Olympics, the council proceeded with the vote. Supporters argue that the wage hike will help workers keep up with the rising cost of living and stimulate the local economy through increased consumer spending.
For progressives, this decision represents a significant victory in the fight for economic justice, ensuring that the city’s tourism boom benefits not just visitors and executives, but also the workers who make the tourism industry run.
