Tax the Rich/Redistribute Wealth

As the New York Times recently reported, “Bezos’s wealth soared by 120 billion from 2006 to 2018, and his federal taxes during that time amounted to only 1.09 percent of the wealth gain. The situation for the average household was radically different: its taxes amounted to more than 100% of its wealth increase.”

The 2021 ORMA General Assembly, held on January 30th, 2021, helped set ORMA’s direction for the coming year… as John Lewis inspired us, we will continue to make “Good Trouble” (read President Obama’s eulogy for the indefatigable civil rights campaigner Congressman Lewis).

ORMA Priorities

ORMA has long known that we have our work cut out for us as we seek to assist in the implementation and realization of the 2020 ORMA General Assembly / membership selected priorities. Please visit our priority pages: End Structural Racism; Medicare for All; Money out of Politics; Elections 2020; and Climate Change/Green New Deal, including the GND Working Group Facebook Page. Opportunities abound to take an active participant’s role relative to any of the priority issues that are closest to your heart and to ORMA’s. Please express your interest either through one of the above working group priority pages or volunteer.

Indigenous Land Acknowledgement

ORMA acknowledges that we live on lands loved for millennia before us by people of the Massachusett, Mohican, Nauset, Nipmuc, Pawtucket, Pocumtuc, Seaconke, Pokanoket, Pocumtuk, Nipmuc, Abenaki, Wabanaki Confederacy and Wampanoag tribes and nations. We give thanks to the indigenous people who stewarded the land and waters of Massachusetts for more than 15,000 years. We acknowledge that we inhabit land seized and stolen from these indigenous people, whose descendants still live among us.  ORMA is committed to honoring their wishes for respect, restoration, and independence.
