Our Revolution Massachusetts Endorses the March for Our Lives
The Representative Council of Our Revolution Massachusetts (ORMA) voted to endorse the March for Our Lives events taking place all over the Commonwealth on Saturday, March 24th, 2018.
Our Revolution supports the youth organizers who are leading this historic effort and stands in solidarity with all those participating in rallies and marches across the country. ORMA believes common-sense gun control measures, including background checks and a ban on assault weapon sales, are legislative priorities.
While the call to action by the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High appears to represent a tipping point in public opinion, “The students of color who participated in the walkout last week highlighted the disparity in the way the media, the public, and the politicians respond to gun violence in communities of color,” says Abida Adnan, co-chair of ORMA’s leadership committee.
“Our Revolution is dedicated to exposing the persistent disparities confronting our nation,” Adnan continues, “and joining hands with activists of color to address the larger question of who gets empathy in America; and which issues and people are considered important.”
On the day of the walkout last week in DC, Senator Sanders told students, “What you are doing is of national significance. You are leading us to protect the American people and leading this country in the right direction.
